Leading US fast food chain Panda Express announced this morning that it will bring its Beyond Meat-based orange chicken to 70 regional markets across the US after announcing a limited trial over the summer.

The dish, initially available in a handful of locations in New York City and Southern California, the seasoned but plant-based meaty entree will be available in additional areas in California, New York, Georgia, Illinois, Texas, Florida, Washington, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia.

Jimmy Wang, executive director of culinary innovation for Panda Express, said in a press release, When we launched Beyond The Original Orange Chicken in select locations earlier this year, we received an overwhelmingly positive response. We fried more than 1,300 pounds of Beyond The Original Orange Chicken on day one. This was one of Panda’s most successful regional launch singles, further reinforcing our guests’ desire for more diverse and plant-based options.”

For the American Chinese fast food chain, the partnership with Beyond is an opportunity to expand its non-meat menu, with related dishes currently including eggplant tofu, super greens, chow mein, and vegetable spring rolls. The company also lists brown and white rice among its vegetarian menu items.

In addition to Panda Express, Beyond offers a variety of meat alternatives to Pizza Hut, KFC, Denny’s, and Dunkin, and the new meatless aged chicken is available at these recent locations starting today.
